What Will the Learner Do?

Successful candidates will be responsible for a range of cash-processing activities. These duties are designed to provide practical exposure to the processes involved in receiving, preparing, sorting, reconciling and securely transferring cash.

Receive Cash

The successful learner will be required to:

  • Receive customer deposits and update the applicable systems.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.

Prepare Cash on the Applicable System

  • Process deposits according to agreed bank SLAs and SOPs.
  • Prepare the workstation correctly for effective note counting.
  • Ensure that cash is processed accurately and efficiently.

Note Sorting Responsibilities

Note sorting is an important part of the Cash Processor role. Learners will be expected to sort prepared deposits and notes within the required cut-off times.

Responsibilities include:

  • Sorting deposits and notes for FDP/ACDP on the same day.
  • Sending rejected notes to the Reject Teller together with the required documentation.
  • Working with PCD cards, deposit slips and stop-loss bags during verification and balancing.
  • Recording the client name, date, denominations, number of bundles and operator name on the production board.
  • Balancing deposits accurately.
  • Reporting differences to the Team Controller.
  • Completing the production sheet.
  • Ensuring that the required downtime register is completed when there is a machine breakdown.
  • Ensuring end-of-day bundles are verified by the Team Controller.
  • Participating in daily balancing and reconciliation procedures.

Reconciliation of ACDP Deposits

Learners may also be responsible for reconciling ACDP deposits. This involves checking rejected notes and validating the relevant information.

Duties include:

  • Reconciling rejected notes.
  • Manually checking rejected notes for counterfeit, dye-stained and mutilated notes.
  • Performing cash transfers to the vaults.
  • Completing end-of-day balancing and reconciliation of cash received.
  • Handling shortages and surpluses according to the applicable Standard Operating Procedures.

Accuracy and attention to detail are particularly important because the position involves handling and reconciling cash.

Desktop Deposit Processing

Another important responsibility is desktop deposit processing.

The learner will need to:

  • Check containers or bags for damage or tampering.
  • Report any irregularities to the Team Controller.

  • Ensure deposits are processed on the same day they are received.
  • Process and balance deposits on the applicable system.
