About the Pharmacist Assistant Learnership
Netcare is offering a Basic Pharmacist Assistant Learnership to give students real–world experience in a hospital pharmacy setting.
During the learnership, you will work with qualified pharmacists and learn practical skills like giving out medicine, managing stock, and supporting pharmacy services.
If you complete the program successfully, you can register with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Basic Pharmacist Assistant.
The Pharmacist Assistant Learner will help provide medicines and other services to patients and healthcare teams under the guidance of a registered pharmacist.
You’ll make sure these services are done safely and in a cost–effective way.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
Stock Control
Take part in regular and complete stock checks
Help with buying and managing stock properly
Process stock for different departments and between clinics
Follow Netcare’s stock management rules
Watch over assigned stock areas
General Tasks
Make sure you follow SAPC rules
Check on medications that are still pending for patients
Do office and cleaning tasks
Complete any tasks given by the Pharmacy Manager or Pharmacist
Medication Dispensing
Help pharmacists with all parts of giving out medicine
Pick and prepare medicines under supervision
Record dispensed items on patient accounts as per medical aid rules
Enter patient details and prescriptions into the Unisolve system
Help with monthly checks for long–term medications
Minimum Requirements
Applicants need to meet these conditions:
– Have a high school diploma or National Senior Certificate
– Have passed Core Mathematics
– Have studied Physical Science
– Have studied Life Science
– Be under 35 years old
– Be unemployed
