Are you passionate about wildlife, eco-tourism, and conservation? SANParks, in partnership with CATHSSETA, invites jobless South African youth to apply for the Field Guiding Skills Programme 2026 at Bontebok National Park. This 18-month learnership offers accredited training and hands-on experience designed to launch your career in conservation and eco-tourism.
Programme Details:
- 6 months Training: Receive theoretical and practical guidance skills training
- 12 months Placement: Gain on-the-job experience at Bontebok National Park
- Stipend: R2,695 (training phase), R3,500 (placement phase)
- SANParks covers training-related travel and accommodation costs
What You Will Learn:
- Guiding principles and ethics
- Wildlife identification (flora and fauna)
- Conservation and environmental mindfulness
- Visitor communications and guiding techniques
- Safety procedures in protected areas
- Professional conduct and public interaction
Who Can Apply?
- South African citizen
- Under 35 years of age
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
- Unemployed
- Living within 40–100 km of Bontebok National Park
- Clear criminal record
- Physically fit
- Not previously participated in SANParks’ related programmes
