Training Officer

1. Job Purpose

The purpose of the Training Officer is to design, implement, and manage training programs that develop the skills, enhance the performance, and increase the productivity of Barron employees. The Training Officer will assess training needs, develop comprehensive training materials, deliver engaging sessions, and evaluate training outcomes to ensure Barron’s workforce is equipped to meet its strategic goals. This role is central to cultivating a learning culture aligned with Barron’s PRIDE values.

 2. Job Objectives and Functions

Key Objectives Job Functions

Training Needs Analysis

  • • Conduct annual training needs assessments to identify skill gaps and development opportunities across departments.
  • Collaborate with managers and department heads to understand specific training requirements, aligning them with the Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR) requirements.

Program Development

  • Designs and develops a diverse range of training programs and materials, tailored to Barron’s unique needs, including instructor-led, e-learning, and hands-on training formats.

Training Delivery and Facilitation

  • Facilitates engaging and dynamic training sessions for employees across all departments and levels, ensuring alignment with Barron’s objectives and cultural values.
  • Employs varied training methods to cater to learning styles and maximize knowledge retention.

Training Administration and Reporting

  • Measures and reports on the impact and effectiveness of training programs using pre- and post-training assessments, feedback forms, and performance tracking.
  • Identifies areas for improvement to raise the quality of training at Barron continually.
  • Maintains accurate records of all training activities, ensuring the training calendar is current.
  • Prepares monthly reports, highlighting training completion rates, attendance, participant progress, and areas requiring additional support.

Compliance and Standards

  • Prepares and submits the Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR) as required by relevant SETAs (Sector Education and Training Authorities).
  • Supports Barron’s BEE initiatives by coordinating skills development programs that contribute towards BEE scorecard compliance.
  • Ensures training initiatives align with BEE objectives, focusing on empowering underrepresented groups and promoting diversity within the organization.

Regularly updates training content to reflect any changes in legal requirements or internal standards and promotes compliance awareness across the organization.

  • NQF 7 Diploma/Bachelors in HR, Education or related field (Essential)
  • Adult learning principles (Essential)
  • Training needs analysis (Essential)
  • WSP and ATR Submission Process (Essential)
  • BEE Skills Development Requirements (Essential)
  • Training Officer  (3- 5 years) (Essential)
  • Experience in LMS (1-2 years) (Desirable)
  • Exposure to WSP & ATR Reporting (1-2 years) (Essential)
  • BEE Compliance (1-2 years) (Essential)
