REQUIREMENTS : Grade 12 plus an terrific 4-year degree/B Tech in agricultural extension
or equal terrific tertiary qualification as known through SAQA.
Minimum of 01-year applicable experience. Registration with a expert body
(e.g. SACNASP) is compulsory. A legitimate driver’s licence (with exception of
people with disabilities). Knowledge, Skills and Competencies: Extensive
knowledge in agricultural advisory. Knowledge of manufacturing planning and
management. Knowledge of Public Service Legislation. IDPS, PGDS and
CASP, extension norms and standards. Report writing skills, Computer skills,
Problem fixing skills, Analytical skills, and capacity to speak with
stakeholders at all levels. Knowledge of new agricultural technological know-how and
agricultural technical knowledge. Knowledge of mission monitoring and
evaluation. Knowledge of planning and organising, Facilitation skills.
Networking abilities and expertise of different agricultural programmes, e.g. CASP,
Letsema, Extension Recovery Plan (ERP), Land care and Fetsa Tlala.
Language skillability will be tested.
DUTIES : To promote sustainable improvement in the agricultural region thru the application of the fabulous extension ideas and methods. Provide technical aid for organised agriculture and different agricultural stakeholders and help in planning, advice, and aftercare support. Promote sustainable production of agricultural products. Determine the lookup wishes of the area. Establish and decorate the relationship with consumers (internal and external)
stakeholders. Provide non-stop help to make sure sustained manufacturing and quality improvement. Render scientific and technical recommendation to interior and external purchasers to make certain sustainable development. Conduct farmers’ days,
demonstrations, and records days to the farming communities. Conduct situational evaluation to discover the actual wishes and facilitate the implementation of great practices and technology. Empower and construct ability of producers, commodity companies to make sure self-reliance. Provide recommendation on a range of subjects’ matter like crop production. Establish networks and linkages with all stakeholders, hold applicable databases up to date, such as famers’ database. Compile and post month-to-month and quarterly reports. Keep up to date with regard to relevant prescripts, policies, procedures, science advisory services. Implement programmes such as CASP, Letsema, Land care.
