PEOPLE THAT QUALIFY TO GET SASSA GRANT

SASSA provides social grants to eligible individuals in South Africa. The following are the types of grants offered by SASSA and the qualifying requirements:

  1. Old Age Grant: This grant is for people who are 60 years and older. To qualify for this grant, the applicant must:
  • Be a South African citizen, permanent resident or refugee.
  • Reside in South Africa.
  • Earn less than R85,200 per annum (or R7,100 per month).
  • Not receive any other social grant.
  1. Disability Grant: This grant is for people who have a physical or mental disability that makes it impossible to work. To qualify for this grant, the applicant must:
  • Be a South African citizen, permanent resident or refugee.
  • Reside in South Africa.
  • Provide a medical certificate stating that the disability is permanent.
  • Earn less than R85,200 per annum (or R7,100 per month).
  • Not receive any other social grant.
  1. Child Support Grant: This grant is for families with children under the age of 18. To qualify for this grant, the applicant must:
  • Be a South African citizen, permanent resident or refugee.
  • Reside in South Africa.
  • Earn less than R85,200 per annum (or R7,100 per month), if the applicant is single.
  • Earn less than R170,400 per annum (or R14,200 per month), if the applicant is married or living with a partner.
  • Provide a birth certificate or proof of guardianship.
  • Not receive any other social grant.
  1. Foster Child Grant: This grant is for families who are fostering a child. To qualify for this grant, the applicant must:
  • Be a South African citizen, permanent resident or refugee.
  • Reside in South Africa.
  • Provide a court order stating that the child is in their care.
  • Provide a birth certificate or proof of guardianship.
  • Not receive any other social grant.
  1. Care Dependency Grant: This grant is for families who are taking care of a child or adult with a disability. To qualify for this grant, the applicant must:
  • Be a South African citizen, permanent resident or refugee.
  • Reside in South Africa.
  • Provide a medical certificate stating that the person being cared for is permanently disabled.
  • Earn less than R85,200 per annum (or R7,100 per month).
  • Not receive any other social grant.
